We're spending Halloween in Alton, Illinois. Alton's basically right across the river from St. Louis and is a great small town. Alton's where my Dad grew up and we still have family there- including my wonderful Aunt & two lovely cousins. We're going to attend the Alton Halloween Parade- a first for us, but we are soooo excited! Emma-Rae is beggin' me to dress up like a witch with her & my cousins may end up being witches too... oh boy, we could get into some trouble! :) Then, as if we couldn't get anymore excited- my cousin told me to check out the website for the McPike mansion (I was bored during my lunch break). The McPike mansion was built in 1869 and is HAUNTED! They are doing TOURS of the mansion while we are in town- yeah baby! I wanna go soosoo bad, we'll see who all I can convince to go with, PLUS who I can beg to babysit my darling brats. Alton, IL, is one of the most haunted small towns in America. Throw in the facts that Alton was the site of a confederate prison during the Civil War, the underground railroad, a tuberculosis sanatorium, and had a Piasa bird flying around there's bound to be some ghosties hanging out somewhere! :) So, if you're interested and get a minute check out these cool links. Alton is a fun place to visit- the people are nice, it's beautiful this time of year, and they are known for having good antiques.
